Marcelo Matos advises national and foreign clients in the negotiation and drafting of business and operational contracts and in the structuring of mergers and acquisitions operations, private equity and venture capital investments, creation of joint ventures and corporate restructuring and company recovery. In addition, he works on structuring and implementing succession and tax planning. Finally, Marcelo has experience in contractual and corporate disputes (judicial and arbitration) and in advising companies in judicial recovery.
His experience includes participation in contract negotiations related to specialized sectors such as mining, energy, healthcare services, heavy engineering, information technology, technology and innovation, retail and wholesale consumption, agribusiness and real estate.
Marcelo is currently a professor of Business Law at the Faculty of Law of Contagem (FDCon), of Agrarian Law and Agrarian Contracts in the postgraduate course in Agribusiness Law at IEC-PUC Minas and of Contract Law and Obligations in postgraduate and refresher courses and author of several articles published in periodicals and collective works and of the work “Penal Cláusula and Sinal: conventional private sentences from the perspective of Portuguese and Brazilian law” (Editora GZ, 2019). Marcelo is also a founding member of the Brazilian Institute of Contract Law (IBDCont) and a full member of the Brazilian Institute of Civil Liability Studies (IBERC).
